Clean Air Strategy For Ireland
In April 2023, the government approved Ireland’s first Clean Air Strategy. This strategy identifies and promotes the coordinated measures needed – across government – to reduce air pollution and promote cleaner ambient air to save lives, make our towns and cities more liveable and improve our environment. At the moment, air pollution in Ireland is estimated to cause 1,300-1,400 premature deaths every year. The Clean Air Strategy provides the high-level strategic policy framework necessary to identify and promote the integrated measures across government policy that are required to reduce air pollution and promote cleaner ambient air, while delivering on wider national objectives. It outlines how we will enhance and protect the quality of the air that we breathe and realise the full environmental and health benefits of cleaner air.
