Landscapes NI is the network organisation for landscape management organisations in Northern Ireland and the vision agreed by members is “Cherished landscapes benefiting people and nature in Northern Ireland.” The network members are comprised from the management organisations for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) and other iconic or recognised landscapes. One of the agreed progress indicators for landscapes NI was the development of an annual survey aimed at organisations and individuals connected to the environment sector. The survey was created in advance of an event at Stormont in which the Landscapes NI Manifesto was launched and followed feedback from NIEL staff and members of the network. It was promoted on the Landscapes NI Website and also via 3 separate posts on social media to try and get a reasonable level of response. Furthermore it also went out via the NIEL newsletter and members shared the posts from Landscapes NI via their own social media channels. A total of 259 unique responses were received which was extremely positive and this provides great baseline data for the landscape sector in terms of stakeholders’ views. Furthermore there is the opportunity to look into the data to see if there are any trends in responses depending on the sector, the demographics and the “go to landscape area” of the respondents.
