Manifesto Position Paper: Trees and Woodlands in Designated and Iconic Landscapes

In 2024 Landscapes NI members developed a Manifesto for Landscapes which outlines the “key asks” as we see them for the long term protection and management of these amazing and iconic places. This paper provides a strong call for the protection, restoration, and integration of significantly more trees within these landscapes and this links with a number of our Manifesto goals including: Manifesto Goal 2: Land use and change Manifesto Goal 3: Conservation and Restoration Manifesto Goal 4: Climate Action Manifesto Goal 6: Heritage and Cultural Preservation Trees, and in particular native species, are foundational to our landscapes providing ecological, aesthetic, social, carbon and economic benefits.
